The new generation of the Navigator has the wind in its sails thanks to a twin-turbocharged V6 producing 450 horsepower and boasting a maximum towing capacity of 8300 pounds (3765 kg). From its 22-inch wheels to its Vista panoramic sunroof and everything in between, including best-in-class second- and third-row legroom, Lincoln's full-size luxury SUV can be summed up in one word: grand. The Navigator is a fascinating vehicle. It’s dominating, opulent, very flashy and far from affordable. It belongs in the exclusive full-size luxury segment, a category of vehicles shared with competitors such as the Cadillac Escalade and the Infiniti QX80.

The people at Lincoln speak of a cabin that was largely inspired from yacht and private jet builders. The wood found on the centre console was cut out of a single piece in order to ensure continuity in the groove. This big guy is a living room on wheels and its massaging seats should help remove that extra layer of stress before your next business meeting. Inside, the smell of leather and wood is very present, and the chrome accents and leather stitching are easy to spot. More importantly, there is absolutely nothing in this vehicle that resembles the interior of a Ford. Even the SYNC 3 infotainment system gets its own bespoke interface, except this time it sits in a gargantuan LCD screen that proudly erects from the centre of the dashboard.

Unlike its cousin the Expedition, the Navigator offers a much more luxurious, refined and quiet ride. It’s the same story with its styling; the vehicle looks a lot more upscale with its standard 20-inch wheels and enormous chrome grille. This SUV is for people who want to get noticed! That being said, don’t let its bling-bling demeanour fool you. The Navigator is still a real truck. Underneath its light body sits a still ladder-on-frame setup, allowing it to tow more than 3764 kg (8300 lb), which is almost as much as some half-ton pickup trucks.
