Rent an Audi R8 Spyder in Europe

If you have a reason to rent a sports car, you have a reason to rent the Audi R8 V10 Spyder.
Rent Audi R8 in Europe

If you have a reason to rent a sports car, you have a reason to rent the Audi R8 V10 Spyder.

“Now hold on a minute“, you might say, rightfully pointing out that there are many sports cars out there, and that they all have strong suits that appeal to different drivers.

And we would agree with you.

However.

Whatever your reason for renting a car may initially have been, well, reasons change, as may the weather or the location you’re visiting. What sets the R8 Spyder apart from most other convertibles is that it will be up to just about any task you may concoct to throw at it. It will defy your every expectation, and you will love every second of it.

On second thought, you don’t really need a reason to rent the Audi R8. Rent it in Naples and head north, experience the Swiss Alps and don’t stop until Germany meets the North Sea. Or go the opposite route. Or both in turns.

No chance in hell you’ll get bored of it. The second generation models, which started production in 2015, come equipped with a 5.2 liter V10 naturally aspirated engine with 540 bhp and 398 lb-ft of torque, enabling a top speed of 318 kph and a 0-100 kph in 3.5 seconds. But those are just numbers. All you need to know is that it is quick, impressively nimble, thanks in equal parts to clever engineering and an all-wheel drive and sounds like all the bits in the Ride of the Valkyries no one has ever slept through, played in unison, through a Rolling Stones gig sound system. Loud, yet captivatingly symphonic.

And it is gorgeous. Not in a flashy way, mind you. Audi has left that to the Italians. No, it has a design theme Audi themselves have dubbed an “understatement”, kind of like an unlabelled wine bottle that just so happens to contain a Chateau Lafite.

Could happen.

It’s a two-seater with an excellently crafted interior, the Audi virtual cockpit that does away with the sometimes distracting central screen and a cloth roof that takes only 20 seconds to remove, even at speeds of up to 50 kph.

And remember, where there is an R8 Spyder, there will be an R8 Coupe as well, with most of the same to offer, if that is more to your liking.

So where can you get one, and for how much? Here are just some of the options.

Ain’t no highway like an autobahn

That sounded awkward, we’ll give you that. But you know what won’t be awkward? You, striving for top speed on the autobahn, exploring the German horizon in this homegrown wonder, rolled off the assembly line at some point during the past 12 months. It offers one of the most exciting rides in an authentic German masterpiece, and what better way is there to live the local experience? One thing we would recommend is going for a tour of the various carmaker museums the country has to offer. Fitting, isn’t it?

Cruising the Swiss Alps is better than crossing the Swiss Alps

What better way to test your skills as a driver than to put the car through its paces in different road conditions, with few places being more fitting fir this than the picturesque Swiss Alps. Go skiing in St. Moritz, visit the urban centers like Bern or Zurich or circle the many breathtaking Alpine lakes, this car behaves in nothing less than a sensational manner.

Granted, the wildlife may be less thrilled than you will be.

This model is available to a driver over 24 years old and for no less than €178 per day.

Then there was the coastal route

Italy is interspersed with attractions – urban centers are full of art and history and the countryside is famous for some of the world’s most salivating foods and drinks. It might be less of a driving challenge, but we dare you to argue that that is a bad thing while sitting in the warming embrace of the R8 Spyder. Finally, a chance to put the top down and keep it that way, as you enjoy the smell of salt in the air and the feel of the Sun on the skin. All yours for upwards of €700 per day, if you’re over 25 years old.
