“Keeps up with the tradition”

The DB has always been the emblematic grand tourer of Aston Martin. Part of it may be attributed to its movie car status, but the status quo it has achieved is well deserved. The latest iteration – The DB11 keeps up with the tradition. It’s rear wheel drive, front-engined, and has jaw-dropping looks.

Background: David Brown

The history of the DB lineup is world renowned. Whenever someone brings up the word ‘Aston Martin’, the shape of the gorgeous DBs come to mind. DB aren’t two letters referring to some performance aspect of the car. It stands for David Brown, the entrepreneur that purchased Aston Martin shortly after World War II and provided the driving force to bring Aston Martin to where it is today. Little known, but significant in the company’s history.

Aston Martin DB11: Stunning Details

One of the best reasons to rent the DB11 is for the looks. Sure, Aston Martin has evolved the same shape for close to a decade now, but it’s surely working. The DB11 will continue to enthrall you even after you’ve stepped inside. The starting procedure itself is an occasion. The crystal encrusted key slots neatly into the center console.

On startup you hear a tightly strung crank, before the sonorous AMG developed V8 roars to life. Of course, you can find the rest of the interior covered in premium materials. By working with Mercedes, a leading marque in automotive interior design, the new DB11 looks more sophisticated than ever.

Aston Martin doesn’t show the DB11 is a 4 seater, it instead opts for a 2+2 seating setup. Two doors, but can comfortably fit two people in the rear. A feature that maintain the DB11’s sleek and sporting look.

It’s still a modern car, with all the electronics and a gorgeous infotainment system to keep you connected. You can easily go a few hundred miles in the DB11 without even feeling the slightest bit of fatigue. The front part of the cabin is spacious, and with 270-liters of boot space, the DB11 can work for quick getaways too.

A great car to rent. An Involving Drive.

While AMG has made the V8s thunder and thump away at bass frequencies. Aston Martin has worked their magic in tuning the exhaust. The V8 found in the DB11 sings a unique note that’s identifiable a mile away.

Driving the V8 engine may not seem as exciting as the V12, but make no mistake, the V8 is every bit as good. Weighing at over 100 kg lighter, the V8 DB11 is a sensible choice, trading raw visceral power for agility and efficiency.

The twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 puts out 503 bhp and 505 lb-ft of torque. It propels the DB11 from 0-100 km/h in 4 seconds flat, to a top speed of 187 mph. The best part is that it’s hard to tell it’s turbocharged, with such good throttle response.

Other than some impressive performance figures, the DB11 gets you 10.0 L/100km. That’s very efficient for a car like this, and will allow you to go past more fuel stations than you’d expect. To deliver all that power, the V8 is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox with a manual override option. You can shift manually using the paddles behind the steering wheel, which are very responsive.

Being lighter, the V8 DB11 is unequivocally praised to be better in the corners than the V12. That said, it’s no less impressive at its original purpose, grand touring. It’s a car built to traverse long distances in comfort.

Oh and by the way, the Bridgestone tyres for this car are called the S007. I wonder where that came from?

Where to Drive

The ideal places to rent Aston Martin DB11 would be cities where it makes a statement. When in London, you’re likely stand out in the supercar spotting capital of the world. The exhaust note itself is enough to draw attention. London makes for great shopping in areas like Knightsbridge.

Dubai provides wide open roads, the seaside and beaches like Jumeirah beach for fun activities. There’s even the Dubai Autodrome, where you can experience all the DB11’s horsepower on a track day.

For something a little more relaxing there is Milan. The fashion capital of the world. It well suits the Aston’s elegance and design, and just a few hours of driving can get you to Venice, or the port city of Genoa. When you’re done cruising around the streets, you can stretch its legs out on a mountain road, or run a few a hundred miles to your next destination on the highway without breaking a sweat.

The DB11 provides an authentic Aston Martin experience, it’s every bit as good looking and poised as a modern Aston should be. For a relaxing getaway, you can’t do much better than the DB11.
