The London Eye, the British Museum, the many parks, shops and squares – London is a city of many attractions. Among them is the London tube, an efficient public transport system more than a century in the making.

Efficient, not comfortable. If you seek pleasure during travel, you need a comfortable car for yourself and the family. There is no class more up to the task than the luxury SUV. Here are some of the more popular models available for rent in London.

Range Rover Sport

The newer models, starting from 2013, have an all-aluminium body, designed in classic Range Rover style, but some half a ton lighter, and is the first luxury SUV with this build. It may look compact, but Range Rover have managed to create a roomier interior than with the more classic models. The front seats are leather and lower than with similar models, giving that sporty feeling. The third row of seats, once raised, offers limited room, and is more useful for children.

In terms of the engine, there are three versions out there. There is the 3.0 liter V6 turbo-diesel with 288 hp and two petrol engines, a 3.0 liter V6 with 255 hp and a 5.0 liter supercharged V8 engine with 503 hp. It’s not the fastest SUV, but with automatic axle adaptation and excellent grip, it is impressively versatile, and is comfortable both on and off road. And with the lighter chassis, it is more fuel and CO2 efficient.

Audi Q7

Although not the most stunning SUV on the list, the Q7 is built for road comfort. The leather lined seats are comfortable, adjustable and slide horizontally, so that even passengers in the third row, once raised, can have anple leg room, further helped by the Q7 high wheelbase. The rear camera is a useful addition, given its size.

The engine is a 3.0 liter TDI Diesel V6 engine with 268 hp and 443lb ft of torque that takes 6.5 seconds to get from 0-100 kph. It has an eight speed transmission. It is not the most exciting car, but it makes up for it in comfort for the whole family.

Mercedes-Benz G63

You’ve seen Mercedes G-class SUVs everywhere. They are often seen in Hollywood films (the Fast and Furious series, the Bourne Supremacy, etc), are used by the police and military in over 40 countries for transport purposes (though there are versions with thicker armor and gun mounted guns) , and, now less impressively, stars like Megan Fox and Kanye West drive them. The G63 carries AMG’s twin-turbocharged 5.5 liter V8 engine with 563 hp and 561 lb ft of torque that will get you from 0-100 kph in 5.4 seconds.

It has a rugged chassis all but inherited from the classic 1979. G-class model. Despite its outer appearance, it is quite comfortable inside, and lined with leather almost everywhere. The driving position is not as sporty as with some other models, but offers excellent visibility. The leg room in the back isn’t great, but will be more than sufficient for most passengers.

Bentley Bentayga

The first SUV ever built by Bentley, it is the most powerful and fastest SUV in the world. It has a twin-turbocharged 6.0 liter W12 engine with 600 hp and 663lb ft of torque. It gets from 0-100 kph in 4.1 seconds, aided by an 8 speed transmission working so well with its four wheel drive.

Inside, there is leather everywhere, the infotainment system has detachable tablets. It also has 360 degree cameras that improve safety. It is hard to put your finger on anything that is lacking with this car. Then again, given that the first customer was Queen Elizabeth II, that is only proper.
