Range Rover Discovery Sport HSE

The first generation of the Discovery was nothing more than the Range Rover’s country bumpkin cousin. Then the second model came along, veering off from its forerunner’s agricultural stigma with better styling and more premium features. For the third-gen Discovery, Land Rover has enhanced the plush SUV all around.

Also dubbed “the best family SUV in the world,” the Discovery got a whole lot smarter for its third generation. There’s a phone app that lets you fold the seats, then there’s a powered tailgate that can hold up to 660 pounds (300 kilograms) or three adults. Tech-savvy highlights include up to 9 USB ports, Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 8 devices, 12 advanced driver assistance systems, and a feature for off-road junkies that’s baptized All-Terrain Progress Control.

Based on the same lightweight but rigid unibody platform as the Range Rover Sport, the 2017 Land Rover Discovery saves up to 1,058 pounds (480 kilograms) compared to its predecessor. Now classified as a full-size SUV with “seven full-sized adult seats” .
