Rent McLaren P1 in Europe

The McLaren P1 feels different from any other supercar. It’s a hybrid, and yet everything is so well integrated, you’d barely notice the electric motor. Rather than detract from the performance, it adds to it, providing a thrilling hit of acceleration. It’s usable every day in Normal mode, silent in E-mode and as focused as a serious racing car in Race mode. Following the F1 was a tough gig, but McLaren has managed it.

P1 Performance

Built in a limited run of just 375 examples, the original version of the McLaren P1 is powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 strapped to a single electric motor, producing a still jaw-dropping 903bhp and 664lb. McLaren P1 top speed is 217mph, while 0-62mph takes just 2.8 seconds. More impressive still, 0-124mph takes only 6.8 seconds. Because there’s never such a thing as enough for well-healed supercar clients, in 2015 McLaren evolved the roadgoing P1 into the track-only P1 GTR. This saw power increase to 986bhp (a nice round 1000ps), weight come down to under 1400kg dry (around 1440kg kerbweight), and though the ultra-aggressive aero package knocked top speed down to just shy of 200mph, cornering speeds and circuit handling went ballistic.

P1 Interior

It's not so much an interior as it is a cockpit in the McLaren P1. When you open the scissor door you're greeted with carbon fiber, more carbon fiber and a little more carbon fiber. Deep and high-bolstered race seats are covered in Alcantara, as is the top of the dash and the steering wheel along with a few select locations that need padding. The center of the dash connects to the transmission tunnel with smooth flowing lines and is home to the screen for the infotainment system. A second screen takes its place behind the steering where it does duty as a driver information center and configurable instrument cluster. There are a few places for storage of small items, but overall the look and feel is cold and dark, there's never any doubt that car is in charge here, not you. Visibility in the low-slung hypercar is good as long as you keep looking forwards.
